A Legacy of Beauty
The iconic hairstylist was generous with this time and ideas, always willing to share his wisdom and knowledge with fellow professionals.
“Richard was an amazing mentor and always inspirational in quality and taste,” says Adam Broderick, ICA 2nd vice president and owner of Adam Broderick Salon & Spa. “In addition to his impeccable taste, decisive vision, and great humor, Richard was a lifelong friend—he was the real deal.”
Sam Brocato, ICA director and owner of Sam Brocato Salon, says Calcasola was a true Renaissance man, with the ability to dive into any subject with intelligence.
“He had an amazing mind, and I was inspired by his creativity and wit,” Brocato says. “I always felt like Richard looked out for me, a small-town guy in NYC. He was also hands-down the best-dressed member of ICA and a trail-blazing artistic director.”
Calcasola’s inclusive nature, sharing his experiences so others could learn and grow, truly embodies the spirit of ICA.
“The way he made me feel is his legacy, and I think that applies to hundreds of others out there like me,” says Brocato. “Rest in peace, my friend.”
